W przypadku S 43 połączył on stalową ramę z rurek ze skorupami ze sklejki na siedzisku i oparcie, tworząc w ten sposób absolutną redukcję. Ze względu na komfortowy efekt zginania ramy tapicerka jest zbędna. Jego przejrzysta, powściągliwa forma sprawia, że to krzesło na płozie jest wzorowym projektem w duchu modernizmu. Dziś Thonet jest właścicielem autorskich praw autorskich do tego ściśle sześciennego „krzesła bez tylnych nóg”.
